Inspired by their travels in Australia and South Africa and the food and drink they enjoyed there Gail and Chris Nichols decided to realise their dream of opening a similar business here in the UK.
The idea was to create a Coffee shop and Food Store serving the very best coffee, freshly baked cakes, and seasonal lunches.
Applegarth, Farm Shop & Restaurant
In 1976 John and Stephanie Benson purchased a piece of land in Grayshott to grow a range of soft fruit and vegetables. Selling via a barrow at the entrance to Covent Garden Market, John steadily built up a pick your own business which thrived. Today Applegarth employs about 32 people and has a thriving Restaurant and Farm Shop selling a whole raft of locally sourced, unique products. We are still true to our roots however, trying to break the mould of faceless high street shopping by providing a personal and unique location.
Blue Fig Restaurant
Blue fig was set up in 2000 when Janie and Malcolm decided to collaborate and set up a catering company with a personal touch. We pride ourselves on delivering a professional service with a personal touch.
A small restaurant consisting of myself, Janie, (a Michelin star trained chef) and Malcolm, my husband. Together we ensure both the food and the service are constantly monitored and kept to the highest of standards.’
